The Southern Light Artists of America - Frank Gee, Joel Knapp, Bill Puryear and David Wright - are committed to preserving the beauty of the South by celebrating it in their paintings and by establishing a new standard in art. While their art is not limited to Southern subjects, it nevertheless expresses the spirit of the South.

Living within an eight-mile radius in Sumner County Tennessee, they have many things in common - an enjoyment of the great outdoors and membership in a regional art group, ArtSumner. They meet regularly in one of their four studios to celebrate their friendship and support each other as artists. While enjoying similar activities, their painting styles and motifs couldn't be more different. The result is an amazing diversity in art, offering a breadth of subjects ranging from travel to history, covering place and time, capturing music and sports, and alternately humorous and heroic.

This richness is only possible because of the difference in their visions of life, all informed by the light of that part of the world they love - the South. Welcome to the Southern Light Artists of America.
